Yesterday, DocKit users were greeted with an email from the ClaimKit team. The corpus of the email notified users that DocKit would be going through a new facelift late through the evening. Well we did not lie. DocKit v1.3 is now live.

What can users expect from the latest and greatest version of DocKit? Benefits ranging from better security all the way to top notch performance and stability. On top of the technical improvements, we added a better looking document collection and more powerful tag filtering so that you can better find the files you need. Let’s walk through the new features.

Safer Document Viewing

In previous versions of DocKit, our users had the benefit of 256-bit SSL encryption when they visited the site. This encryption allowed users to feel comfortable that the information that they are viewing is safe from the view of other onlookers and potential trespassers. While DocKit is already extremely safe for traffic, the little green bar and lock in the upper left of the browser bar gives you some extra satisfaction.

All of the sections of the website had the green bar but one – the Document Detail page where you review your files. Because our site uses a number of technologies, that page lacked a green bar. Not any more. Thanks to our wonderful development team, all traffic on the site is routed through our SSL encrypted domain and delivered on your screen. That means that on every page within the DocKit system, you will see the green bar and know that your connection is safe.

DocKit is one of few professional technologies on the web that can boast such a security feature. We are happy to have it!

Faster, More Stable, Document Previewing

Screen Shot 2013-03-14 at 8.21.58 PMThanks to our development team, DocKit is now more stable than ever. The engine that runs DocKit’s file preview generation has been optimized to protect against clogging and stalling that might slow down system performance.

Additionally, DocKit now communicates better with the user about the preview being generated. If a file has yet to be previewed, DocKit will let you know with a “Generating Preview” message and shortly your preview will appear on the screen. Thereafter, your preview will be ready for you in a snap.

DocKit v1.3 is light years ahead of previous versions in loading documents. Expect your multi-megabyte files to load in mere seconds and smaller everyday files to be ready after the click. The whole ClaimKit team is proud to bring you a faster, more reliable document preview engine.

Sleek Document Collections

Screen Shot 2013-03-15 at 10.14.07 AMClaimKit listens. Every time our users have a comment or suggestion, it is recorded and discussed among our team. Your suggestions are extremely important to us – because we built DocKit for you!  Some of your suggestions included improving the way the Document Collection page displays your claim file information. So we made some changes – we think you will like them.

Filenames are now completely viewable, regardless of length. The filename field has been elongated and will wrap to multiple lines to encapsulate larger filenames. Additionally, the height of filename fields has been shortened to give you more of your files on the screen at once.

These minor tweaks help improve the look and feel of the Document Collection page, making your user experience more enjoyable!

Advanced Tag Filtering and Results

Screen Shot 2013-03-14 at 8.42.47 PMThe most anticipated change to the DocKit interface (at least for us at ClaimKit) has been the enhanced tag filtering function. In the past, users could only filter the results of a single folder that they had clicked into. For instance, if you have 5 projects in 1 principal, you would click into 1 project, run the tag filter and only get to see the files with the tag selected that is in that project. Not anymore.

With our enhanced tag filter, tagging becomes much more useful to the user. Now you can apply your tag filter from the All Documents view and the filter will show you all of the files within your entire principal that have that tag. Only want to see the files from a specific project? Sure, just click on the project name and run the filter to find your tagged files. Only want to see those files from a particular subfolder within a project? No problem, just click into the folder and apply the tag filter.

Perhaps the best part of the new tag is the results page. Results are now shown immediately in the Document Collection viewer with the location of the file. If you applied the filter while in All Documents, the results page would, for each file located, display the location trail (for example: “Principal A > Project 1 > Folder I”) and below it the filename (for example: “Filename0001.pdf”). By providing the location of each file recovered from the filter, ClaimKit hopes that the user is given more confidence in the files located. Try it out!

So check out the new DocKit. We hope you like it.
